But let me give you realistic numbers based on what we see in the Pakistani market.
The Minimum Viable Setup
For a child’s room, the absolute basics are a bed and a wardrobe. Everything else can be added over time.
A decent quality single bed from a reputable furniture manufacturer in Gujranwala or Lahore starts at approximately Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000. This gets you a solid laminate plywood bed with basic design, good construction, and a few years of reliable use.
A 2-door wardrobe of reasonable quality starts at around Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 30,000.
So a minimum functional setup – bed and wardrobe – should be achievable for Rs. 33,000 to Rs. 55,000 at current market prices.
The Mid-Range Setup
This is where most Pakistani middle-class families in Punjab land. A mid-range setup would include:
- A well-designed single bed with storage drawers: Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 45,000
- A quality 2 or 3-door wardrobe: Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 55,000
- A study table with chair: Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 25,000
- A shoe rack: Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000
Total mid-range setup: approximately Rs. 72,000 to Rs. 135,000
Bunk Bed and Shared Room
A quality bunk bed for two children: Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 70,000 This replaces two separate beds and saves significant money for families with two children sharing.
What Justifies Spending More
Premium pricing in kids furniture is justified when:
- The materials are genuinely higher quality (thicker board, better laminate)
- Safety features are superior (more robust guardrails, better hinges)
- The design will suit the child for many years without looking childish
- Custom sizing is required for your specific room
What to Avoid
Avoid very cheap furniture priced significantly below market norms. In Pakistan’s furniture market, extreme low prices usually mean thin boards that warp quickly, poor finish that chips early, and unstable construction that becomes a safety concern within a year or two.
